BMW refused to repair a vehicle after the air bags deployed for no apparent reason. There was no accident. It was raining and the vehicle was traveling down the freeway. Suddenly the side air bag deplo ... yed. BMW claimed it was the driver's fault as he must have hit something in the road like a pot hole. (See Article) The jury did not like BMW's trial tactics and wished they could have awarded more than the law provided. A true victory for the consumer. The trial lasted almost 3 weeks.
