A strong desire to help people led Stephen M. Collins, Jr. to become an attorney. “I see people put in situations they have never experienced before and don’t know their rights,” said Stephen. “It bothers me to see people being taken advantage of, and it’s unfortunate knowing companies will do that to people.” For Stephen, he gets personal satisfaction knowing that his clients are protected from the unscrupulous practices of businesses and insurance companies.
A civil trial lawyer specializing in personal injury and disability law, Stephen Collins has practiced law in Alabama since 2010. Mr. Collins has successfully represented clients in many jurisdictions, and has personally collected over $40 million dollars on their behalf. He has successfully tried numerous jury trials and obtained verdicts over 10 times the amount originally offered by the insurance companies. Additionally, Stephen has authored and taught continuing education courses to other attorneys along the Gulf Coast. Together with his role as an injury attorney, Stephen also serves as the Director of Legal Operations and manages the day-to-day operations of the firm.
Originally from Marietta, Georgia, Stephen received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Auburn University, and his Juris Doctorate from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law. During his time in law school, Stephen enjoyed being on the Dean’s list and received the CALI award for his scholarship work in intellectual property law. He also worked as a judicial clerk for the Honorable William A. Shashy.
He is admitted to all courts in Alabama, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Alabama. Mr. Collins also handles a large case load with the Social Security Administration, Office of Disability Adjudication Review.
Stephen joined Greene & Phillips at the beginning of 2011 where his practice primarily focuses on automobile accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, catastrophic injuries, Social Security disability, premises liability, and workers compensation claims among others.
He currently lives in Spanish Fort, Alabama, with his wife and two children. They attend church at 3 Circle Church in Fairhope. Stephen and his wife are proud supporters of Compassion International and other charitable organizations.
