Mr. Salter’s criminal defense practice consists of trial and appellate work in state and federal courts. Born in Mobile, Alabama, Mr. Salter received his B.S. degree from Auburn University in 1968. He earned his J.D. degree (summa curn laude) from Cumberland School of Law in 1971, where he was Law Review associate editor. He served as Special Assistant United States Attorney in the District of South Dakota (1974) and served as Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Northern District of Alabama (1971-76) and was a member of the U.S. Attorney General’s Atlanta “Satellite Office” of the Miami Strike Force (1976-77). Mr. Salter has lectured for the Attorney General Trial Advocacy Institute in Washington D.C. He received the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory’s highest accolade; an AV rating in 1996. He is a Life Member of the National Criminal Defense Lawyers and a Fellow in the American Board of Criminal Lawyers.
He is a Member of the Bars of the following: State of Alabama; U.S. Supreme Court; 5th and 11th Circuits Courts of Appeals; and, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Alabama.
