Drew Wenzel

Drew Wenzel is a partner at Southern Estate Lawyers. Along with his partners Dee Asthana and Randall Caldwell, Drew founded Southern Estate Lawyers to create a statewide Alabama estates law firm providing services in estate planning, probate, and estate and trust litigation. With over a decade of experience creating estate plans for Alabama residents, representing clients in estate administration proceedings, and litigating estate disputes, Drew has amassed a wealth of experience across all areas of estate law.

Drew believes estate planning and probate should not feel overwhelming or unnecessarily complicated. He takes a practical, straightforward approach to counseling clients, helping them understand their options and the legal issues affecting their families. Whether creating an estate plan, guiding a family through probate, or handling a contested estate or trust, Drew focuses on providing clear advice and helping clients make informed decisions with confidence.

A native of Foley, Alabama, Drew attended the United States Military Academy at West Point and, upon graduation, was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Army. He served for over seven years as an aviation officer and cargo helicopter pilot, including two combat tours in Iraq. After being honorably discharged at the rank of captain, Drew attended law school at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He completed his articles of clerkship at Baker & McKenzie LLP, one of the largest international law firms in the world, and is a licensed lawyer in the Province of Ontario.

After successfully completing the Alabama Bar examination, he was admitted to practice in Alabama in September 2012 and later admitted to the Florida Bar in 2024. His practice focuses on estate planning, probate and estate administration, and estate and trust litigation.
In January 2018, Drew was named to Mobile Bay Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40, an annual recognition honoring accomplished professionals under the age of 40 in the Mobile Bay area.

Outside of the office, Drew is actively involved in youth sports, both as a coach and through his service on the Boards of Directors of the Alabama Futsal Foundation and the Coastal Soccer Foundation. He holds a U.S. Soccer Federation D License and enjoys coaching and supporting the development of young athletes. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the South Baldwin Education Foundation and enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
