Our client had pain in the right side of her mouth. She called her regular dentist who was away on vacation. Her regular dentist advised her to get to examined by a dentist. A friend suggested Dr. Clea ... ve. Our client called Dr. Cleave and got an appointment. Dr. Cleave diagnosed her with an infection in the lower right side. Dr. Cleave operated on the right side and removed her lower wisdom tooth. He also removed the two wisdom teeth on the left side. Our client developed numbness and loss of sensation on the left side of her mouth. Our client sued Dr. Cleave and alleged that he was negligent for (1) operating on the left side of the mouth when there was no complaint of pain on the left side and (2) injecting a drug known as Septocaine when operating on the left side of the mouth. Our client will always reduced sensation on left side of her tongue. Before trial, our client offered to settle the case for $400,000. Dr. Cleave refused to offer a dollar. The jury found that Dr. Cleave was negligent and compensated our client for her injuries.
