State v. Smith
May 21, 2013OUTCOME: Jury verdict of not guilty.
Client was charged with hunting without a permit after shooting and killing a moose in his yard. There was no dispute that he shot the moose and that he did not have a permit to do so. As a result, he ... was charged and, if convicted, faced mandatory jail time. At trial, we presented evidence that the moose displayed an aggressive stance and posed a risk to client. Therefore, his actions were justified and not a violation of the law.
