Born in Gadsden and raised in Marshall County Alabama where I have lived all my life. I have always had an interest in law. In my early teens I would read any and all law books I could get my hands on. It was always my goal to one day practice law. After high school I begain working in the maintenance department at the Albertville Nursing Home and attending Snead State College. When I turned 21 I was hired as a police officer in Albertville and dropped out of college. But the desire to go to law school only grew stronger so I left the police department and enrolled back in school. By the time I graduated college and applied for law school I was married with a baby on the way. So there was no option for me but to continue to work as I attended law school. I admit it was hard working almost full time and going full time to law school but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything. Having struggled through tough finanical times helps me relate to clients who are doing the same. Unlike some attorneys I understand what it is like to live pay check to pay check. Over the years my practice has focused on Divorce, Custody and Criminal Defense. I try to handle each client's case as if I were in their shoes. I want my clients to know that I take their case serious. I believe in hard work, being prepared and being honest and straight forward with clients.

Outstanding Representation
Attorney Hopper, handled a divorce for me and conducted an outstanding job. From the first day to the last. Always communicated with me through out the process. If I ever have a need for representation again, you can bet he will be me first call.
"I endorse this lawyer. I have worked with Mark, as opposing counsel, on many cases when he was a prosecutor. I have gotten to know him well. The defense bar is fortunate to have him - now that he is on "our side" - and, I consider him a valuable resource for information and perspective. He obviously brings a unique perspective to his clients, and fellow defense lawyers, with the advantage of knowing the "other side's" approach. I imagine sitting in his office as a prospective client would be very reassuring - he is genuine and easy to talk to, in addition to knowing his trade. His knowledge and courtroom ability would be an asset to any client. And, importantly, you can trust what he tells you - always. He would be a great lawyer to have on your side."
"Mark has such a genuine heart for his clients, and for the United States and Alabama Constitutions which protect them. He used to work for the District Attorney's office so he knows the game from both sides. If you're even just wondering if you need a lawyer, the answer is definitely "Yes," and the criminal lawyer you need is Mark Hopper."
