Tracing separate property

OUTCOME: We were able to trace our client's separate property throughout his 15 year marriage and preserve that property for him. We also negotiated a satisfactory settlement with the wife.

This was a multi-million dollar tracing case in which I was associate counsel. The client was a retired, 72 year old bus driver, married to a woman 20 years younger. He had vast property holdings that ... he managed himself and used only the income from his separate property to repair and maintain that property. I wrote the brief that won in mediation: Our client kept all of his 9 buildings, because he had fortunately, kept the money separate in person, separate property accounts
