No they are not allowed to report inaccurate information. You need to dispute it through Equifax, Experian, and/or TransUnion.

How did you hear about it? You can't be sued on a debt if they already have a judgment.

It is possible to refinance the old loan into a new one but it may be hard to find a lender to do it.
