Run!

I recently had the displeasure of using Marsha Banks for a real estate closing. It was a comedy of errors which wasn't funny. The morning of my closing the HUD wasn't finished because they couldn't figure out the software for the program (which they had already tried to use with no success with 4 pre...vious closings). My mortgage representative from Hunter Mortgage had to drive over and help them complete it which set the closing back 4 hours. In the contract, a home warranty contract was to be paid for the buyer - didn't happen. Homeowner's dues were to be paid - didn't happen. The closing was a confusing blur of improperly filled out paperwork and items left undone. I had to go to the closing of the house I was purchasing after this closing. I had to call and reschedule my closing 3 times because the closing paperwork for my buyer was not ready. As the seller, my loan to buy a new home was dependent on paying off my creditors which was to be done with the proceeds of the sale by the closing attorney, Marsha Banks. In the closing, she told me she was wiring the money THAT Friday afternoon so I did not make some credit card payments that were due within the next few days. On Monday all my credit card balances were still there. On Tuesday they were still there. I called, my realtor called and my mortgage broker called and we all got different stories. This firm told me they would be paid on Friday, the 5th. They told my realtor they went to the office on Saturday to pay them. They told the mortgage company representative that they were paid BY CHECK on Monday the 8th. They knew the wiring of these funds was time sensitive. They gave different untruths to different parties. They never once called me to inform me that the money was not wired, but that the checks were mailed which would delay payoff by a week or more. I accrued $70 worth of late fees on credit cards where she promised the funds would be wired, but they were not. Now, two weeks out, I still have a creditor who has not received payment. They were noncommunicative, disorganized, dishonest, and blundering. I would never recommend them!

RUN ... don't walk....

Contacted Ms. Banks last Fall. She was enthusiastic and stated the fee for handling three real estate items. Signed the retainer and paid her. Two weeks later received two more retainers as she decided to break the matters up into three separate issues. No response despite repeated emails which were ...sent as her office stated that was the best way to contact her. Promised deeds in March via email ... and nothing. Beginning to think she is walking them to me. Ridiculous and unprofessional. Would have preferred she state she is unavailable than wonder.
