Do not use Karen

She will drag your case out to make as much in fees as possible. I don’t even understand how what she does is legal. Even if both parties agree on everything she will try to drag the case along to make more money for herself.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

This Lawyer Karen Johnson is a snake, if I would be allow to give 0 stars I would. I came for a consultation paid $200 and after speaking with her I was highly impressed with her intelligence and the way she planned to attack the custody case, so I agreed to hire her. I put down $3000 and agreed ...to pay the following $3500 the next day so that she could start my case. SHE STATED AND EVEN IN HER CONTRACT IT STATED I WILL NOT WORK ON YOUR CASE UNTIL THE FULL RETAINER IS PAID. Later that night, my ex called me and decided that she would continue to allow me to see my kids and that we could keep things out of the courts. So the following morning I called Karens office and asked for a refund since they had not yet worked on my case and she tried to tell me "NO! You owe me another $3500" so yes I may have told her to, "f off and that I'm not paying you and you owe me my money. I will just dispute it with my credit card company". She lied to the credit card company and said it was an emergency basis and she worked on my case overnight EVENTHOUGH her contract stated she wouldn't . Long story short, She won the dispute with my credit card company and now I am letting that credit card go because they sided with this horrible attorney. Terrible business practices, she is smart and cunning and conniving. BUT DO NOT PAY HER ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE 100% READY TO USE HER. She will gladly screw you out of your money with a smile on. I am currently self filing a lawsuit against her for the return of at least $1800.00 that she owes me per her written email.

She is all about her attorney fees, and they are exorbitantly high!

Do not be fooled by all of her promises about your divorce/custody issue at your consultation with her. She takes no personal interest in your case, and is very cold and calculating. Exceedingly high attorney fees, and she adds more and more on as your case goes on.

Karen Johnson is an unethical Attorney!

Karen Johnson is an unethical Attorney! Ms. Johnson served as the mediator for my divorce several years ago. Neither my wife nor I had an attorney, and we went to Ms. Johnson to draw up fair custody and other agreements, and to act as an impartial mediator so we could avoid a contentious divorce. ...Karen Johnson was anything but fair and impartial. All throughout the process, I kept wondering "Why does this seem really biased toward my ex-wife??" Well, I found out. At the end of day two, right before we set to sign the final paperwork, Karen Johnson reveals that her husband works with my ex-wife at the same elementary school. I don't have many regrets in life, but the fact that I didn't immediately walk out of her office and file a bar grievance is one of them. Talk about an unethical attorney. She had no business handling this case, and should have informed me of this conflict from the very beginning. She knew where both my ex-wife and I worked within the first five minutes of meeting us. Years later, my ex and I wound up in court, fighting over this agreement that Karen Johnson wrote. Lawyers from both sides could not believe how skewed the agreement was, and how poorly it was drafted. Her order invited litigation at a later date. If you are thinking of hiring this attorney, you may want to think twice. Obviously, she knows no ethical boundaries. If you are looking for a fair and impartial mediator, you should probably pass as well. Karen Johnson cost me thousands in legal fees with her bogus arrangements, and didn't seem to care about the pain her malfeasance caused two families down the road. It's too late for me to go back in time, so a wee bit o' internet shame for Ms. Johnson is my only solace. Attorney Karen Johnson of Stuart, Florida concealed a known conflict and acted unethically. Think twice before you hire her in any legal capacity.
