client was injured in a car accident. This was her third car accident in which she sustained an injury to her cervical spine. The doctor who treated her for the second car accident indicated she was a ... surgical candidate, but she elected to hold off on the surgery. She then had a third car accident and hired LLF to represent her. Attorney Chad Lawrence contacted the doctor and asked him to review the MRI films from all three car accidents to see if the third car accident caused an increase in the size of the herniated disc necessitating the need for surgery. Doctor found the third accident caused more damage to the spine and the client had neck surgery to repair it. The at fault party only had $100,000.00 in insurance and the carrier tendered the limits once LLF convinced the adjuster the third accident caused more damage. A claim for an additional $100,000.00 in uninsured motorist benefits is still pending.

The client is a 34 year old male who slipped and fell on a ramp at work. He suffered a severe injury to his left shoulder and accessory nerve resulting in focal dystonia. The workers compensation carrier refused to provide permanent total disability benefits believing he could work in some capacity, despite his unrelenting pain. Mr. Collins is a tractor trailer operator and owned his own business. The defendant also owned a tractor trailer and it was alleged he negligently loaded logs onto a logging trailer allowing the logs t ... o extend beyond 10 feet from the rear of his trailer in violation of Florida Law. The defendant was in a left turn lane waiting for the light to turn green. Mr. Collins was in the adjacent lane also waiting for the light to turn green at the same intersection. When the left turn arrow turned green, the defendant turned his vehicle, but the logs on this trailer entered the lane in which Mr. Collins was occupying, crashed into the side of his trailer and pinned Mr. Collins against his steering wheel. The accident aggravated Mr. Collin's pre-existing back condition and he needed surgery. Liability and damages were vigorously defended, but after lengthy discovery, the insurance carrier agreed with our position and tendered their limits to avoid a bad faith claim in the event we received a verdict in excess of the policy limits. Mr. Collins and his family are very pleased with the results.

Ms. Baker suffered from Crohn's disease. Unfortunately, her condition was not very well documented. Under the Social Security regulations, you must show you are disabled within a period called your d ... ate last insured. If your condition is disabling after the date last insured, you will not be eligible for Disability benefits, but only SSI benefits. Ms. Baker was married and would not qualify for SSI benefits because of income restrictions. Therefore, we had to prove she was disabled prior to her date last insured. The judges kept finding her disabled after the date last insured. After three appeals and a trip to Federal Court, the case was assigned to the Chief Judge in Orlando. We conducted a thorough hearing and successfully showed the claimant's Crohn's disease was in fact disabling prior to the date last insured! It was one of the most difficult cases I have ever pursued. We never gave up on this client and we are proud she won.

The claimant was employed as a foreman for a company that was remediating oil contamination at a gas station in La Belle, Florida. He ran out of parts to complete the job and drove a company truck to F ... t. Myers to locate a Home Depot or hardware store. He stopped in a gas station to get directions and on his way back to the truck he was robbed and shot in the shoulder by a criminal lurking in the shadows. His employer fought the workers compensation accident contending he was out looking for drugs and not where he was supposed to be. On the eve of trial, the employer agreed to resolve the claim and settle. We then sued the gas station. Unfortunately, the insurance company that insured the gas station had filed for receivership and the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association agreed to tender their statutory limits of $300,000.00. We sued the gas station on a theory they failed to provide proper security and hired experts to prove the high crime rate not only at that gas station, but in the area. The insurance adjuster agreed and tendered all of the money available under the law.

Mr. Conti was a foreman at a construction site. He fell off of a platform when the wooden planks on which he was standing failed to remain secured to the platform. He fell approx. 40 feet and fractured ... both ankles as well as his left wrist and elbow. I helped Mr. Conti secure all of his workers compensation benefits including payment to his wife for the time she spent taking care of him. I also secured social security disability benefits. I then sued the manufacturer of the platform for negligence. We settled that case out of court for a confidential amount.
