After a 4 day jury trial, the jury found that the minister acted in self defense unde ... r the defense of property prong of the statute. After the criminal verdict, a civil hearing was held and the jury awarded the minister reimbursement from the state for the legal fees incurred by the minister during his defense.

OUTCOME: A three count acquittal in Walla Walla County

E.C. was going through an acrimonious divorce. His wife and estranged daughter colluded to falsely accuse E.C. of rape and incest in an effort to gain advantage in the divorce. The problem was that t ... he both the mother and daughter suffered severe credibility issues and when pressed on the details of the accusations, they fell apart. Fortunately, the jury agreed with E.C.’s innocence and returned a verdict of not guilty after only three hours of deliberations.

OUTCOME: 7 count acquittal

P.S was a 20 yr old male who was tried in Spokane County. P.S. was charged with 1 count of 1st Robbery, 2 counts 1st Degree Attempted Murder, 2 counts of 1st Assault, and 2 counts of Drive by Shooting ... . The State’s star witness was a 17 year old youth who had been caught red handed in a different home invasion robbery with his older brother and two other accomplices, none of whom were P.S.. The youth, in exchange for a 17 month sentence in Juvenile detention, accused my client of participating in this incident. In trial it became clear that the youth had ample motive to lie, saving both himself and his older brother from additional prison time by implicating others. The jury saw through this obvious motive and acquitted P.S. on all counts.

OUTCOME: Acquitted of 4th Assault DV

D.D. was charged in the City of Spokane with 4th Assault DV. D.D. was a 6’7” black male who was former college athlete. The alleged victim was a 5’3” petite white woman. At trial testimony came out ... that the alleged victim was extremely intoxicated during the evening and had physically assaulted D.D. and vandalized his vehicle. D.D. was arrested after he restrained her to prevent a continuing assault. The jury acquitted under the theory of self defense and returned their “Not Guilty” verdict in less than 30 minutes.

T.T. was charged in Spokane County of 1st Assault. T.T. got in an argument with an upstairs tenant. At some point at least 1 knife was involved and T.T. received a slash to his throat. The alleged ... victim claimed at trial that T.T. came at another person with a knife, and the alleged victim got behind T.T. slit his throat. After a week long jury trial T.T. was acquitted.
