Adam B. Portnow

Professionalism

Adam Portnow is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, the Federal District Court for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, and is a Registered Patent Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Portnow is a member of the Sarasota and Manatee County Bar Associations, and serves on the Board of the Young Lawyer’s Division of the Sarasota County Bar. He is also an Associate in the Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court, a group of local attorneys which focuses on professionalism and the ethical practice of law. Portnow has also served as Co-Editor of the Sarasota County Bar’s monthly newspaper, The Docket.

Community Service

Portnow is personally dedicated to serving his community. Some of his community service activities include volunteering as a judge for the Sarasota Teen Court program, and serving on the Board of Directors for Chabad of Sarasota.

Education

Portnow received his Juris Doctorate from St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami Gardens, Florida. During his time in law school, Adam served as Executive Editor of the St. Thomas Law Review, Editor-in-Chief of the student newspaper Plead the Fifth, and as Secretary of the St. Thomas Chapter of the National Jewish Law Student Association.

Portnow received his Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Arts and Sciences from the University of Florida College of Computer Information Sciences and Engineering. For his work in digital arts and computing, Adam received the University of Florida President’s Award for Outstanding Achievement. Adam served as a co-founder and President of the Association of Digital Arts and Media, and was a regular contributor to the ++silica entity, a group of artists, musicians, and engineers collaborating on improvised digital media performances distributed in real-time through non-traditional mediums.

Personal Story

Originally from the State of New York, Adam is a die-hard New York Yankees and Giants fan. Along with his love of baseball, Adam’s art work continues to be his hobby. Portnow has called Sarasota home for over 15 years.
