Mr. Companioni was awarded nearly $18 million dollars by a jury after he sustained life-threatening injuries following a motorcycle accident with a water truck owned by the City of Tampa. The city req ... uested a new trial arguing that Mr. Companioni's lawyer engaged in misconduct that deprived the city of a fair trial. The trial court denied the city's request and the city appealed to the Second District Court of Appeals. The City prevailed before the Second District, but ultimately lost before the Florida Supreme Court.
