In short...no. The press can report anything they do not purposefully print falsely or out of malice. Hence freedom of the press.

Can they...yes. Sound like a Federal case. In state court hey typically do not indict unless it is a murdr case.

Not aware of a thirteen year maximum for anything. First degree felonies are punishable by up to 30 years in prison, second degree felonies...
