Client charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault likely to cause great bodily injury, and robbery, with the additional enhancements of causing great bodily injury. Alleged victim, who had suff ... ered a concussion as well as a gash on his head requiring 5 stitches, stated that Client had beat him with a motorcycle helmet and stomped on him, and robbed him of his property during a large fight. Client was facing over 12 years in prison. During the jury trial, Mr. Wiksell gave a compelling opening statement laying out all of the weaknesses and holes in the prosecution’s case. A substantial amount of surveillance video was used as evidence, and Mr. Wiksell skillfully used the evidence to create reasonable doubt. During a break in the trial, the District Attorney reviewed all evidence and witness statements and decided that they could no longer go forward with their case.
