OUTCOME: The step-mother chose to dismiss her suit after she and the mother started to build a relationship that would allow her to maintain a relationship with the children. There are no wins in Family Law, but this was an ideal outcome.
-Biological father in prison, but still had a current order of custody. -Biological mother accused of prostitution and in and out of children's lives. Wanted children returned upon learning of father ... 's confinement. -Step-Mother had current possession of children and asked firm to help her maintain some type of court-ordered visitation with children (as step parents generally have no rights). Case Study was able to show that mother was not a prostitute but did have questionable self-employment habits. Additionally, study showed that step-mother had been caring for the children for almost a year after father's incarceration and had provided a stable home. Court ordered mother temporary custody and step-mother temporary visitation.
