Brian Anthony Williams

Brian A. Williams, Esq., is the Chief Staff Attorney for School District of Lee County, Florida. As in-house counsel for district staff, Mr. Williams researches and prepares legal opinions on a wide range of issues pertaining to educational law, construction, procurement, transportation and employment law.  Mr. Williams provides legal representation to the school district in the following areas:

Student Custody and Enrollment matters;
Student Discipline matters and Student Expulsion Hearings;
Employee Discipline Hearings-Division of Administrative Hearings (DOAH), Public Employee Relations Commission (PERC) and Arbitration (AAA);
Florida Public Records Law and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA);
Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA);
Title IX, FHSAA and athletics issues (student eligibility issues; releases for participation in athletics);
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;

Mr. Williams also serves on the District's negotiation team(s) for purposes of developing the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Teacher Association of Lee County (TALC), the Support Personnel Association of Lee County (SPALC), and the School Board of Lee County.

Responds to inquiries and complaints filed through state and federal agencies, including but not limited to Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC), Florida Commission on Human Relations (FCHR), Office for Civil Rights (OCR), and Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs (FDVA).

Mr. Williams’ legal accomplishments and abilities have been recognized by such publications as Florida Super Lawyers (2009, 2010) and Florida Trend Magazine (2008).  In 2009 he was recognized by Gulfshore Business Magazine as one of the Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Southwest Florida.
