Andrew has extensive experience as a both a trial attorney and as a Magistrate in all areas of Marital and Family Law, including, Dissolution of Marriage (Divorce); Uncontested and Simplified Divorces; Modifications of Child Support, Alimony, Custody and Time Sharing; Relocation; Paternity/Original Child Support and Custody Determinations; Domestic Violence; Temporary Custody by Extended Family Members; Adoptions; Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements; Name Changes of Adults and Minor Children; Emergency Parenting Matters; Contempt and Enforcement Proceedings; and Collaborative Law.
From 2010 until June 2012, Bokan served as a Family Law Magistrate for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit in Lee County. As a Magistrate, he presided over Family Law trials and hearings and disposed of more than 1,000 contested Family Law proceedings. Prior to and following his appointment to the bench, Andrew practiced Family Law at a large firm in Fort Myers, Florida.
Recognized by Florida Super Lawyers® magazine for achieving a high degree of peer-recognition and personal achievement, Bokan was named as a 2010 and 2013 Rising Star (2011 and 2012 Bokan served as a Family Law Magistrate) in the field of Marital and Family Law. While only five percent of lawyers in the entire State are named to Florida Super Lawyers®, less than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
Bokan was also selected to the Gulfshore Business 40 under 40 in 2012, an elite group of young professionals in Southwest Florida. He is a member of Fort Myers Rotary, the Association of Family Law Professionals, and the Family Law Sections of the Lee County and Florida Bar. Bokan previously served as a member of the Lee County Bar Association’s executive council and is a past president of the Lee County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. Bokan has served on community boards such as the Lee County YMCA and the Southwest Florida Museum of History.
Bokan graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2002 and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida in 1998.
