OUTCOME: Plaintiffs prevailed at trial, and were awarded pension benefits back to the start of their employment with the first company. US District Court published decision which was withdrawn pursuant to a confidential settlement.

ERISA case involving 3 men who worked at a refinery plant for 35 years. New company took over operations of plant, hiring plaintiffs and agreeing to bridge their seniority and pay pension benefits bas ... ed on full tenure with both companies. At retirement they were only paid based on the years at new company. Plaintiffs sued and went to trial.

OUTCOME: Pomona's writ was granted by the Court of Appeal, holding that mandamus was Dr. Corin's exclusive remedy.

Dr. Corin, a tenure-track professor at Cal Poly Pomona in linguistics, was denied tenure. He sued for damages, Pomona filed a demurrer which the Court overruled.

OUTCOME: Ct. of Appeals reversed holding that the several 100-page plan, which was present at table where signatures were gathered, was still required to be attached to petition.

Clients were members of Citizens Coalition who objected by referendum petition to City of DP-adopted general plan & land use plan. Clerk refused to certify petition. Trial Court granted writ of mandate ... requiring certification. City appealed
