Michael Shawn Farrell

I hired Mr. Ferrell a year ago for a simple case. We could never get a hold of anyone in his office, they never return calls, appointments weren’t kept/rescheduled, he filed half of the paperwork needed and when the judge wrote him a letter TWO months ago, he never responded nor turned in anything t...he judges told him he needed to. I confronted him about it and all he said is “it will get done.” It’s been almost a year for a very simple dry cut case. He’s stated he will not refund me my money and he’s refusing to give me an itemized list of anything that was done with my case. He’s a crook and I would run as fast as you can! BBB has a few complaints for similar issues as well.

When I initially hired him, I thought he would be a great fit.... I was so wrong! After I filed for child support, my ex hired an attorney and filed emergency motion to get my kids for Christmas time. I went to pick my kids up and he said I couldn't have them and said I'd get them back on Christma...s..... Christmas of 2015 and it is now August of 2017 and the only thing Farrell did for me (and he really didn't, department of revenue did) was get me temporary child support in Feb 2017 during this long process. Funny thing is, I asked him if temporary support was possible because my ex hadn't paid a dime for 6 years at this point or help at all. He told me no. Then a little over a year later, the department of revenue makes it happen. In the nearly 2 years and literally 2 court dates, I paid $3k for nothing at all. DEP OF REV handled what I hired him for. He wanted me to pay more money for " such a difficult case ". He didn't do much at all. Not even answer the phone or return my calls. After him wanting more money and absolutely nothing being resolved, just more problems, he filed to drop me. I can't tell you how many times I called him or emailed him but he never responded and that is how I always make my payments. So at this point, he refused payments and when I asked for rescheduling the date, he ignored more emails and calls and I got dropped like a bad habit. Thanks Mike Farrell for absolutely nothing costing me $3k I did not have to waste.

Mr. Farrell has represented me since August of 2014 - in very complicated and what seems like never ending family litigation. Mr. Farrell has always been completely straightforward with me about all situations. When I'm being unreasonable - he tells me so and advises me in the best direction to go. I... have never felt like he was trying to set unrealistic expectations for the outcome of my case - and has often prevented me from spending money towards unnecessary litigation. He is honestly an awesome attorney - and I wouldn't have any one else represent me in my family litigation. No one wants to have to hire a family law attorney, but if you find yourself in that situation - Mike Farrell is the way to go.

I hired Michael for my divorce a few yrs ago. I had to do all the research, disclosure information, and give it to him because he did nothing. He did not return phone calls and showed up at hearings unprepared after I gave him all the necessary information and paperwork for handling my divorce case. ...He did not carry out the duties that were agreed per our contract and still charged the full amount.

2009 - 2011 Went to Mike for my divorce/custody without knowing anything about him. I was referred to Mike by my Pastor. One word of advice is don't get a divorce work it out. It's cheaper and emotionally less stressful. If you do, Mike is a great person and Attorney. He was down to earth, easy to ta...lk with and he didn't treat me like he was a superior being like some attorneys do. As it ended up being a long drawn out battle with several hearings I was exhausted mentally and emotionally. Because it was a long drawn out case I got to know Mike well and didn't feel he was just trying to take my money. He really took my case to heart and fought hard and sometimes even viciously during hearings. Mike's assistant Mary was always pleasant and helpful when I would call, numerous times. After several hearings of losing and winning and losing hope we got the results we wanted. My wife and I divorced one day shy of our 14th anniversary May 2011. Remember you're at the mercy of the courts and Judge's schedule, your attorney can't do anything about that. For a 2 1/2 year battle Mike did not take me to the cleaners. His fee could have easily been in the $20k+ range as some others but he was very reasonable with me. OK now here is the kicker ... After all that time wasted fighting, money blown, and emotional craziness.. my wife and I and the kids are back together and remarried 2013. Say what you want but it was an expensive learning experience that I wish I didn't have to have gone through. God had a plan for a hard headed guy like me. So now my Ex/current wife both consider Mike a great person and friend...YES she does too. Once again don't get a divorce unless you're being abused, work it out counselors are cheaper. If you have to get a divorce Mike would be the person I would and have highly recommended. OK if there is one thing I would complain about is that I wouldn't always get a reply back to my emails and phone calls. Remember when you go through a divorce you tend to hang on your attorney's every word. Every little thing that pops in your head you have a question about may not be relevant to the hearing you have coming up. So in his defense he can't respond to every little thing that you think of. I can only say that looking back now and couldn't see that at the time.
