Takes money then runs

Gave John money after our very nice intake interview.. at the very first court appointment he did nothing but ask for a continuance. It was granted. Outside of the court room he told me the price went up for various reasons. I agreed to make payment arrangements for the difference. I was late on the ...first payment and he withdrew himself from my case entirely taking my full retainer.. when I questioned him about this he said I was scum of the earth... But wait a minute.. never been to jail, never been late before was just out of money from throwing what I that would be all I needed , and he calls me scum?? He is the epitome of scum. Run....

I wouldn't give 1 star if I didn't have to.

Let me be clear, I never write reviews... However, this one I think is needed. I will give you the back story. I was divorced with 2 children. My ex had custody. There was a divorce agreement and Support Order but my ex moved so no custody order. I always paid my child support and I also paid fo...r their transportation for visits, medical, dental, school and I even gave my ex loans when she needed them so that my kids would not go without. Then my ex decided to file for more child support. I had no problem with that but I needed a lawyer. I hired this guy (John Martinez) to represent me. However, He did not represent me whatsoever. I ended up paying tons of money to him for absolutely nothing. Not to mention I paid for her lawyer, and medical/dental expenses again that I already paid. I tried to explain to him that the amount she was requesting was not honest and I even provided a breakdown from the actual providers and his response was "you have to give some to get some" (Meaning, if I want spring/summer/winter visits with my kids then I must pay her unfair money). I truly gave up and just thought about how crazy dis-honest this man is. He don't want to help, he just wants to be paid. Second thing is I had a court order specifying what I would pay on medical and dental and I paid my part.... But he allowed her to take all of her unpaid medical expenses (Her part of the expenses) and put them on me again to pay. Overwriting the previous court order and ignoring the fact that I already paid these. Again, I gave up and was beginning to run out of resources (Money) to pay this joker. So in the end, I paid her lawyer...My Lawyer...My ex's part of the medical bills... almost 3,000 in dental that was already paid and I showed proof....and so much more just to get to see my kids. I say this because if I hadn't agreed to not continue to fight the money then they would change when I get to see my kids and for how long I was asking. Now does that sound like a fair trade??? what is wrong with this world. HIM!!!! That is what is wrong. Unfair and Overpaid for no justice... Just to get a paycheck. He will not do what is right for you. It often seemed like he was working on behalf of my ex to get her more money for the trade of seeing my kids. This is several years later. My kids are all grown and adults now but I just felt in my heart that I needed to share a comment for the sake of others that may find a need for a honest lawyer. Its not this guy. Believe me. I paid THOUSANDS to him for something I could have done a better job doing... Sucks we have to pay these clowns to represent us.
