Kevin Grady Humphries

My family and I have hired Mr. Humphries for several different cases. It is never an easy time in your life when you need to have an attorney. Mr. Humphries, is so compassionate. He genuinely is a kind person who will work with you. At the same time, he is aggressive and no nonsense in the courtroom!... Such a rare find! I hope we don't need an attorney anytime soon again, but if we ever do or if a friend or family member does I know who i will recommend!

It was the first-time I had to hire an attorney myself. I was pleasantly surprised by Kevin. He was very kind and knowledgable. I never felt rushed or like I was a bother. It's never a exciting time to hire an attorney, it is often troubling and confusing. However I know that when I call Mr. Humphries, he is always compassionate and understanding with me, he is very good at explaining the situation to me in terms that I can understand. The confused mind always says "No...!" I have had the misfortune to need to hire an attorney several times, however my turmoil is often subsided when I call kevin. He is kind and gentle outside of the courtroom and inversely tenacious inside the courtroom. An iron fist in a velvet hammer! Again it is never a fun time to need to hire an attorney, but every time I have retained Mr. Humphries I have been more than happy with the outcome of my case, and such I have heard from other former clients. Really a nice guy, but when he steps between the benches his charisma turns into a dedicated defense machine, I always know Kevin is going to lead me in the right direction and do what is best for me and not what is convenient for him.

Overwhelming charisma...but no legal skills. Essentially facing a life sentence, if convicted, I felt urged by this attorney to accept an 8 year prison offer. He did nothing to move my case along, and it lingered, unproductive, for 18 long months. It seemed like he did not want to work my case and w...as pushing me to accept a plea. I am innocent, I told him. His response? There are a lot of innocent people in the prisons. After working with this attorney, I can understand why. I caught him in several lies to me. He did not know my case, so when questioned, it was apparent he had not reviewed the documents that I had given him. He was given documents, then called me to pick them up, then called me back and asked ME to make copies for him and bring them back to his office. His depositions were so useless that a Judge ordered them to be redone by my new attorney (something I am told, is NEVER usually allowed by the courts). Even the Judge that ordered the re-taking of the depositions asked who the attorney was that took them. The Judge was obviously unimpressed by the legal effort this attorney put into our case. Key questions were not asked of prime witnesses. The Judge felt that, for justice to be served, the depositions needed to be redone. Continuance after continuance was requested in my case. Court appearances happened without my even knowing they were scheduled, nor the outcome. His staff was untrained, judgmental, and only responded to me when I called repeatedly and finally had to demand a response. Critical evidence to my case went uncollected. No experts were hired for my case, except for the one I had to go find, hire, and pay for, myself.. Simply stated, this attorney took all our money and did almost nothing to earn it. I think he was pushing us to settle for 8 years in prison, so he would not have to work the case and could pocket the money. Finally, after firing him (he says he withdrew, amazingly at the same time I was at his office to fire him), I hired a competent attorney, who got my case thrown out on its merits. The new attorney used all the evidence that Humphries had access to, to prove our innocence and get the charges completely dismissed. No deals. No prison. I shutter to think where I would be right now, had I not fired this attorney. I am so grateful that I am not one of those people who are innocent and are in prison.....as Humphries suggests. He talked a good talk in the beginning, but had nothing to back it up. He does not seem to see his clients as people who need his help. He seems to see his clients as a money train for his lifestyle. Please, for your own sake, seek other counsel. Don't be drawn in by this mans charisma, as we were. This attorney can not tell the truth.

I will start by saying that I rarely post any type of reviews, whether they are good, bad, or indifferent. However, after reading a very scathing review of my attorney on this site, I feel it necessary to reverse roles and come to his defense. I do not know the situation or the person who wrote the ...negative review, nor do I care to. Not to sound insensitive, but if you are in a position that you are potentially facing life in prison, something tells me that you are probably not known for making good, educated decisions. Simply put, if you run with dogs, you’re gonna get fleas. For those that are reading these reviews to potentially hire this attorney, consider your source. Now, back to the reason I am here. I do not take recommendations and referrals lightly. It should also be noted that I historically have not had many nice remarks to make about attorneys. I had previously never had to hire a lawyer. I guess you could say that I fell victim to believing all of the negative clichés about attorneys (devious, shady, ambulance chasers, etc.). That was until I was injured in an auto-accident (not at fault), which subsequently totaled my vehicle. It was at that time that I had the good fortune to meet and work with Attorney Kevin Humphries. Mr. Humphries and his legal team always went out of their way to make sure that I was up to speed with my case, treatments, doctor visits, etc. It was as if they would answer all of my questions before I even knew to ask them! Mr. Humphries is well-educated and is well-versed in his legal vernacular. As a side note, how many attorneys can you call on their cell phone at all hours of the day/night? Not many. Mr. Humphries handled the insulting settlement offers from the insurance company masterfully. It was like watching a world class poker player reading the bluffs of his opponent. He was always 2 steps ahead of the insurance company. After several offers and counter-offers, Mr. Humphries was able to secure a very substantial settlement for me. He never pulled the trigger on any decisions without first consulting me. Mr. Humphries and his staff always made me feel like my opinion counted and genuinely cared about how I felt. They treated me as if I were family. Since my accident in 2012, I have referred more than a handful of folks to Lopez & Humphries, P.A. Most of which have utilized their services, ranging from personal injury to divorce to social security disability. Every last one of them has been more than pleased with the results and the service provided by Mr. Humphries and his staff. If you need legal counsel, look no further.
