also known as Attorney Hanks, P.A.
Since his 1987 admission to the Florida Bar, Mark Hanks has been in private practice for the past twenty-two years of his career. Originally from St. Louis, MIssouri, He attained his undergraduate degree at Tulane University, New Orleans, before returning to Missouri for his Juris Doctorate from St. Louis University, a portion of the studies for which had been earned at Stetson University Law School. He permanently relocated to St. Petersburg in 1987, when James T. Russell hired him as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Clearwater.
While a prosecutor, Mark investigated, prosecuted, and tried a wide variety of cases, beginning with DUI's and thefts, and culminating in Armed Robbery and Murder cases. During his six years as a prosecuting attorney, he served assignments in Clearwater Traffic, Family Violence, Crimes Against Children, and the DUI Manslaughter unit.
In 1993, Mark Hanks left the State Attorney's Office, to join with another former prosecutor to form, Hanks and Frost, P.A., a private practice in the Gateway area, that grew to encompass many areas of the law. "Whatever type of lawyer our neighbors needed, that was the type we became." As a result, Mark gained significant experience in new areas of law, such as Family Law, Personal Injury, Probate Law, Business Law, Social Security and Workmen's Compensation. Eventually he narrowed his practice to Criminal Defense, Family Law and Personal Injury. It was during this time that Attorney Mark Hanks tried his first personal injury case to a $400, verdict.
In 2003, Attorney Hanks, P.A. was formed, drawing its name from what many clients were already calling him. The practice continued the focus on the three areas of law: Family Law (Divorces, Custody, Child Support, Restraining Orders), Criminal Defense (Traffic, Misdemeanors and Felonies), Personal Injury (Auto Accidents and Slip and Falls). Since that time, Attorney Hanks has helped countless clients with these types of issues. And though from year to year the percentages of each type of case has shifted, Mark Hanks continues to enjoy practicing in each area. And when clients have needs for representation in other areas, such as wills and advance care directives, probate, bankruptcy, or foreclosure, Attorney Hanks continues to afford them that assistance, to maintain his objective of "Justice Served."
Mark Hanks resides in St. Petersburg, Florida, with his wife of 24 years, their two children, their miniature dachshund, a green wing macaw, and a home tank of saltwater fish, in addition to the office tank that keeps clients fascinated in the lobby.
When he is not spending time with his family, Mark enjoys volunteering for Leadership St. Pete, to foster the future leaders of the community. He also pitches in with the annual, Holy Family School Auction, exercises and tries to play the guitar.
Attorney Hanks hopes that wherever your case or legal issues are--Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Manatee or Sarasota, you will hire and think of him when you need, "Justice Served."
