Jason Frederick Emert

I grew up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and I am a proud 8th generation East Tennessean. After high school I attended Southern Illinois University where I played for the Saluki football team. After college I earned an MBA from the University of Louisiana, and served as a graduate assistant for the Ragin' Cajun Athletic Department and a research assistant at the Moody College of Business. After a couple of years working in private business, I enrolled in the University of Miami School of Law graduating in 2014. While in law school I was Miami Law's ABA Student Representative, and the global law student chairman of the International Bar Association Law Students' Committee and the international vice-president of the International Law Student Association (ILSA).

In my professional legal experience I have worked with clients on a range of issues facing their families or businesses. Additionally, I work on complex international, election, maritime, and sports law matters. I have used my experience to teach as an adjunct professor of law, helping established the international law curriculum at the Lincoln Memorial University School of Law. I have also been an adjunct professor and lectured on law, foreign policy, and global affairs at numerous institutions. Moreover, I am active in several legal organizations. I chaired the National Entertainment and Sports Law Societies board of advisors and am a member of the Sports Lawyer Association. Also, I am a member of the Caribbean Bar Association, the American Society of International Law, and the International Law Association. Plus, I am a member of the Florida Bar's Admiralty Law Committee, and Florida Bar sections on International; Entertainment, Arts and Sports; Elder Law; and Real Property, Probate, and Trust. I have also previously served on the University of Miami School of Law Young Alumni Committee.

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, scuba diving, sailing, fishing, traveling, and reading. I am an avid sports fan and enjoy watching almost any college and professional sports. Most importantly, my wife and I recently welcomed our first child into the world, so one of my new hobbies is enjoying fatherhood.
