James Obeso

I don’t usually leave reviews, but I felt this needed to be shared. My experience with James Obeso was extremely disappointing. My family and I trusted him with a very important case and paid close to $10,000 expecting solid representation. Unfortunately, he showed up to court unprepared — no notes, ...no plan, nothing to show he had taken the time to really understand or build our case. To make matters worse, after doing the bare minimum, he had the nerve to ask for more money. We lost thousands in a case that truly mattered to us — money we couldn’t afford to lose. Now, we’re forced to start over, save up again, and find a new attorney to try to fight this properly. I had high hopes for Mr. Obeso, but this experience was a letdown. Please do your research and be careful before hiring him.

Mr. Obeso was my lawyer for 4 mos. I only met him once. We had a contract—$250 for his services and $90 for her (paralegal) services. He billed me at $250 per hour for her services. Need I say more. He started out seeming like a smart, caring lawyer. i was extremely disappointed and have been told I ...will have to resort to small claims court to get my money back. I will do exactly that when I return home in December.

The lawyer is very unprofessional. Would not listen to my concerns on my case. The lawyer is very unorganized and untimely. He proceeds to do work without the consent of client. Very arrogant when it comes to communicating with client matters. This lawyer does not have the best interest of clients a...nd i would highly recommend to look for other options in a legal represantation. Please look for another lawyer

I was asked for money two more times throughout the entire case. My husband and I did not receive our court appearance letters or information which resulted in us not being notified of court and occasionally having the other party tell us. This caused us to lose our case. He never gave any advice and... gave incorrect information and did not take the time to know the ins and outs. After this experience I am not a fan of dependency court, it's laws or attorneys. We could rarely get a call back and if we did it was only to say everything will be okay. They did not respond to emails and could not receive faxes from the other attorney or parties involved( which contributed to us remaining uniformed). We would get to court and hear crazy nonsense and we were always unprepared. He did seem very knowledgeable about the law and he could be a good lawyer, just not for a losing case.
