In 2017, Ben was inducted into Florida Trend’s "Legal Elite" for Wills, Trusts and Estates. He is a graduate of the inaugural class of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) Florida Fellows Institute. Ben serves on the Executive Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. In 2017, he received the Section’s “Rising Star” Award for his leadership and service to the Section.
Ben graduated from Yale University and earned his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Florida Law Review. Prior to joining the firm, Ben practiced in the litigation group of the national law firm Akerman Senterfitt.
Ben worked for four years as a lawyer for the State of Florida in Tallahassee, serving as General Counsel to the Chief Financial Officer of the State of Florida and the Florida Department of Financial Services. In that role, Ben supervised a staff of over 60 government attorneys and had responsibility for a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues. Prior to his work in state government, Ben served as a law clerk to the Honorable Emmett Ripley Cox on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
In addition to his law practice, Ben was elected in November 2016 to serve in the Florida House of Representatives. He represents Florida's sixty-eighth state house district in Pinellas County.
