Ronald Steven Rawls

Steve Rawls is a Partner at Butler Pappas. Steve heads up the firm's liability coverage practice. He handles liability coverage litigation throughout the United States. His practice focuses mainly upon construction defect, pollution, advertising injury, E&O, automobile and products liability coverage. He also represents clients in bad faith litigation and in catastrophic injury cases.

Steve often speaks at seminars about insurance coverage issues. His presentations have addressed a wide variety of issues, including, among other things, trigger, allocation, additional insured, and other risk transfer issues as well as bad faith issues such as handling multiple claimants, multiple insureds and the duty to initiate settlement negotiations. Steve routinely writes for treatises and other publications. His work has appeared in the Law and Practice of Insurance Coverage Litigation, the CGL Reporter and For the Defense, among other publications. He regularly writes for the International Risk Management Institute in his role as an expert commentator in the area of liability insurance.  Steve has also recently contributed to the DRI's Florida chapter of a multi-state compendium titled, The Professional Liability Insurance Coverage: A Compendium of State Law.

Steve's clients include Zurich, Markel, Sentry, First Mercury, XL, Commonwealth and General Fidelity/Riverstone, among others.

Steve graduated in 1991 from the University of Florida College of Law. He is a member of The Florida Bar and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits. He belongs to several professional organizations, including the Defense Research Institute, the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance, and the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
