John Allen Schifino

John Schifino practices in the areas of business litigation, appellate practice, and environmental law. Mr. Schifino’s business litigation and appellate practice involves complex contract disputes, business torts, shareholder disputes, real estate disputes, professional malpractice claims, employer/employee disputes, trademark infringement litigation, and First Amendment matters. Mr. Schifino's environmental practice includes toxic tort litigation, BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill claims, and environmental enforcement and compliance. He has represented business clients in Superfund (CERCLA) matters, and has served on a steering committee for a Superfund site located in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Mr. Schifino has lectured frequently on environmental matters, and co-wrote the chapter “Environmental Management Systems” in Managing Hazardous Materials, a comprehensive hazardous materials text published by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management.

Mr. Schifino is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Schifino is a member of the board of directors of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, served as a member of and chaired the Florida Bar Association Grievance Committee, Division E, in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit from 2009 to 2012, is a member of the board of directors of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Trial and Litigation Section, and co-chaired the Hillsborough County Bar Association’s Judicial Liaison Committee from 2004 through 2010. Mr. Schifino is an AV rated lawyer by Martindale Hubbell and has been listed in Florida Trend's Legal Elite and in Florida Super Lawyers.

Mr. Schifino is an active community volunteer, including serving as president of Bayshore Little League, volunteering at the YMCA, and serving on the board of directors of the PACE Center for Girls.
