Jacob Brandon Hanson

Jacob Hanson is an Associate at Butler Pappas. Jacob is a 2003 graduate of the University of Florida College of Journalism.  He worked for The New York Times Regional Newspaper Group from 2004 to 2008 as a copy editor and copy desk chief before entering Stetson University College of Law.  While at Stetson, Jacob served as Assistant Executive Editor of Stetson Law Review and was a member of the Stetson Moot Court Board's Vis team which traveled to Hong Kong in 2011.  After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Stetson University College of Law in 2011, Jacob worked as a law clerk in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit's criminal, civil, and business divisions.

Jacob is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, and his work is primarily focused in the area of first-party property insurance defense.  In addition to being a member of the Florida Bar, Jacob is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and is a member of the Goldburg-Cacciatore Criminal Law American Inn of Court.

Jacob was awarded Best Claimant's Brief at the 2011 Willem C. Vis (East) Moot, and Honorable Mention for Best Oralist and Honorable Mention for Best Respondent's Brief at the same competition.  Jacob also was awarded the Suzanne Armstrong Memorial Award for Excellence in Legal Writing and Professional Conduct from Stetson University College of Law in 2011.
