Erica Irizarry

Attorney Erica Irizarry's legal career has been defined by a rare and deliberate pursuit of complete courtroom knowledge. She began in civil defense, building strong litigation fundamentals before moving into criminal law. As an Assistant Public Defender in Hillsborough County, she learned what it truly means to stand between a client and the State — to fight for someone's freedom when the odds are stacked against them.

She then made an unconventional move — crossing to the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office as an Assistant State Attorney, where she prosecuted criminal cases in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. That experience gave her something most defense attorneys never have: a complete, inside view of how Florida prosecutors build their cases — what evidence they rely on, how they evaluate their charges, and where their cases are most vulnerable.

She returned to the Public Defender's Office — not because she had to, but because she chose to. Armed with both perspectives, she was a more complete defense attorney than when she left. Today, as the founder of Irizarry DUI and Criminal Defense, PLLC, she brings that complete courtroom knowledge to every client she represents throughout Tampa Bay. She has sat at both tables. She knows how to win at either one.
