Health insurance payment dispute involving claim by small business physical therapist against preferred provider organizations ("PPOs"), alleging that PPOs breached their contract with the provider by ... perpetrating a payment discount scheme known as a "Silent PPO," in which the PPOs unlawfully applied discounts on behalf of workers' compensation insurers based on a web of undisclosed business agreements between the PPOs, network brokers, middlemen, and insurers, in exchange for kickback payments. The case was tried to a federal jury in the Southern District of Mississippi, and resulted in a jury verdict in favor of the physical therapist, finding that the PPO defendants committed a breach of their contract with the provider.
