Great attorneys that go the extra miles

We bought a house for ourselves to live in from the county foreclosure action. We had spent the whole year looking for the perfect home and this appeared to be it. We paid for the house (it was not cheap) and we received title to the property. Things went downhill around this time. The previous owner..., although not living there at the time, filed a motion to vacate the sale. My wife was very worried, she has visions of her dream home being yanked from under her. The other attorney filed emergency motions with supposedly valid reasons to overturn the sale. Juliana and her co attorney on this Lisa Hailey (who did most of the work on this case), were having none of it. Not only did they file motions shooting down all the arguments, they also threatened sanctions against the other lawyer due to the fact he had not even objected to our sale, which is the normal procedure and would have prevented title being issued during the objection period. In a nutshell, we had a hearing asking for a writ of possession and to deal with their motion. The judge said we did not need a writ as it was unoccupied and also passed their motion over for a future hearing as a new judge was due to be assigned due to internal shakeups. We took possession of the house and tried to arrange the owner to remove his stuff. They the owner broke back in an confronted my wife, chasing her of the property. She called 911 and was stunned to discover that nobody cared. The previous owner had torn down the gates, broken into our locked house and came at my wife with a weapon and law enforcement just told my wife to stop crying. I was out of the country and powerless to help. The cops view was that as we never actually got any writ of possession, the previous owner could come back anytime, even months after last living there. Seemed crazy as we had title. We were stuck and in a panic. Previous owner filed another emergency motion to prevent us moving any of his stuff and Juliana and Lisa filed their own emergency motion telling the judge what the previous owner had done and asking the court to fix it. Hearing was scheduled for the next day. Both Juliana and Lisa arrived at court (we were only expecting one attorney which is usual in these cases) and they were prepared for battle. They had gone the extra mile and prepared a very strong case with piles of evidence to support our argument. We were still unsure which way it would go, the most we hoped for was our writ of possession and we expected to deal with their motion to vacate at a future date. The case began and luckily for us the judge had already taken it upon himself to read all the case docket and much of the previous statements etc. in great detail. He already knew the case inside out which made our attorneys jobs quit e bit easier. Both sides got to present some of their argument and then the judge launched into a tirade. He let the other team have it with both barrels. “Why was their client not there?” Other attorney (because he was busy overseas) “But he filed the motion and was in the country yesterday, sound like an excuse, get me proof of his flights.” “He did not pay his mortgage and lost his house. “ Other attorney (but paperwork was filed wrong) “No it was not, I checked the case and the bank did everything right “ “I'm giving them their writ, tell you client to get his stuff out before the sheriff drags it out” Other attorney (well that OK we still have the main case running to vacate the sale, we can deal with that later) “No you don't, stop wasting my time and this courts time. I'm closing the case and disbursing the funds. You wanna carry on then you need to file an appeal.” And the case was closed, just like that. Our attorneys had taken this case to heart. They went the extra mile to ensure we got the help we needed and we are happy to recommend them to anyone
