It's difficult to find a COA attorney representing "the little guy". One wanted $6,000, but I'm Medicare age and a cancer survivor. He referred me to Jim. Jim has an "eclectic" office near the railroad tracks in Boca. He asked for a $3,000 non-refundable retainer, which I will never ever do again. He... never did come up with an accounting of his time. We spoke once on the phone and once in person, but all communications after that were 100% text messages and emails, even though I asked him to call me. It was strange. Then, there was a deadline. Jim didn't respond to me, or opposing counsel. I terminated the relationship. Jim did return 50% of my retainer, after I consulted a third party. I DOCUMENTED EVERYTHING. It was always one personal problem after another, and he always apologized profusely.
