Not Guilty Verdict - Murder
Jul 10, 2014OUTCOME: Not Guilty
Our client was accused of murder after firing a gun into a crowd of attackers. The shot hit one man in the stomach, killing him shortly thereafter. The shot was fired only after our client had been ... brutally beaten by at least eight people. The attack followed a fight earlier in the day between our client and another man. A group seeking vengeance gathered at the apartment complex and lured our client out of a friend's apartment where he was hiding. Our client was miraculously able to escape, then pulled out a handgun and fired before dropping the gun and running away. He returned when it was safe and turned himself into police. Prosecutors had claimed that our client got in a fight, lost, and walked away before returning with the gun. This was despite little evidence supporting the prosecutor's theory. After a four-day trial in St. Louis County, the jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty after only three hours of deliberations. Our client is now a free man after being held for 18 months.
