I hired Jennifer Milne for my divorce/child support situation. From the start she seemed to be somewhat knowledgeable and her price was relatively fair compared to most of the attorneys in South Florida. It took nearly 9 months just for Jennifer to set and confirm a mediation date. Jennifer also seem...ed to be VERY close friends with my ex’s attorney, which made me a little uncomfortable from the start. At the very beginning of the whole process, I paid Jennifer $2,000 and was told that I would have till the time of the mediation to pay the remaining $1,000. So, I hired Jennifer in March and then a month later, on the day my child was born, I get a call from Jennifer saying she needed the remaining $1,000 immediately. This was the day my child was born and she called me for this and the mediation didn’t even happen until November! During the 9 month span, I rarely heard back from Jennifer after numerous attempts and when I did she was very vague and never seemed to answer any of my questions. She also always seemed to try and pressure me into things that would favor and benefit my ex. When it finally came time for the mediation, Jennifer strolled into the building with my ex’s attorney, being overly friendly and personal with him. Jennifer also turned out to be very close friends with the mediator as well. The whole process of the mediation was supposed to be a total of three hours (this was the agreed upon length of time, as the mediator charged per the hour). The mediation ended up being intentionally dragged out to literally ALL DAY, mostly due to Jennifer, and therefore forcing me to have to pay the mediator much more money than was originally agreed upon. All of the stipulations Jennifer presented during the the mediation favored my ex and not me. I was required to turn in all my financial documents at the mediation showing my income and expenses, and if I failed to do so I would be “held in contempt of court”, yet my ex didn’t have to do any of this. Jennifer and the mediator came up with some outrageous number in child support that left me unable to pay my own bills, but according to Jennifer “they don’t care if I have to live in a box, I have to pay this amount or go to court, and if that happened then I would have to pay her more money up front.” Jennifer was extremely unprofessional during the whole mediation process and even seemed annoyed to have to be there. I hired this attorney to fight for me and make things fair, and in the end she did what she could to benefit herself and her “friends”. At the conclusion of the mediation process the contract stipulated that my ex must present a copy of her pay stub no later than 5 days after the mediation to prove that she makes what she claims (which her income is significantly more than she reported it to be) and this would then change the amount in money I would have to pay her. Now it is February and this has never been enforced or followed up on. My ex now gets child support money from me that fits the false amount of income she claimed she makes and the divorce is still not finalized. I reached out to Jennifer about this and she simply stated “it’s not her problem because she was just supposed to get me through mediation and that’s what she did”. She didn’t even finish the divorce process! I urge anyone in a similar situation not to fall for Jennifer Milne’s tricks. She just wants your money and nothing else and she will do nothing to help you. Please look elsewhere!
