About Randi
Biography
Randi Karpinia’s career bridges engineering and intellectual property. A Georgia Tech electrical engineering graduate who later completed a Master’s at Florida Atlantic University, she rose through Motorola’s engineering ranks—developing the first wristwatch pager, leading paging research in Japan, and managing paging infrastructure across Southeast Asia from Singapore. Motivated to broaden her impact, Randi earned a law degree from Nova Southeastern while maintaining full-time work and parenting two children, then led IP efforts at Motorola with a specialty in software and AI patents. In 2018, after the sudden loss of her husband David, she took the helm of Sagacity Legal, reshaping the firm around her technical depth and client-centered approach. Randi is known for translating complex technology into robust IP strategies, mentoring clients and teams, and persevering through personal and professional change to protect and advance innovation.
