Oscar Edgar Sanchez

Oscar focuses his practice on commercial disputes, professional liability defense, tax controversy and corporate law, including commercial transactions. His work includes the defense of accountants, lawyers, real estate professionals and insurance agents.

With a multidisciplinary background, Oscar offers clients a unique skill set and business-focused perspective to assist in advancing their legal objectives.

Also an accountant, Oscar was a tax auditor with the New York State Taxation and Finance Department and an intern with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Internal Revenue Service. He was the comptroller and later vice president and general counsel for a Florida telecom company and its South American affiliates. Oscar began his legal career prosecuting criminal cases as a Bronx County, NY, assistant district attorney.

Accounting Background
Oscar has an in-depth knowledge and experience of the accounting profession. He worked with a national accounting firm where he specialized in tax planning and tax compliance for Fortune 500 corporations as well as small businesses and individuals. He participated in a myriad of state and local tax projects, including tax planning, corporate restructuring, due diligence and audit defense and management. In addition, Oscar was involved in the implementation of tax planning strategies, including investment and trademark company subsidiaries, and REIT strategies.

Oscar has represented accounting firms in lawsuits and claims involving the professional services that accountants provide to their clients. In these sensitive matters, he has dealt with issues of alleged fraud, negligent tax preparation, planning, drafting of QDROs and business valuations. Having the requisite experience and vast industry knowledge, Oscar assists clients with other important legal matters, including:

Oscar has represented corporations and individuals in connection with tax deficiencies before the Internal Revenue Service, the New York State Taxation and Finance Department and the Florida Department of Revenue.

In the corporate arena, Oscar advises clients on the formation of domestic and foreign corporations, limited liability companies, general and limited partnerships, and joint ventures. He also assists with the creation of corporate, asset and stock purchase, shareholder, management, independent contractor and other agreements. Oscar leverages his corporate tax background to consult with clients on domestic and international tax matters in connection with formation and transaction issues.
