I want a publication translated into a foreign language. Do I need the translator to waive his/her interest in the end product?

To be on the safe side you should have the translator transfer his/her copyrights to you.
He or she will need to do this with a written agreement.

Sharing images on social media doesn't make the image public domain.
The owner of the copyright still retains his/her protection under copyright...

You should speak with an attorney regarding this matter.
Sending the counter-notice does not guarantee that the ISP will put the content back up.
