He was appointed to the Miami-Dade County Community Council, whose mandate was to adjudicate Building & Zoning disputes throughout the county. He also served as a General Magistrate For the Miami-Dade Value Adjustment Board, where he adjudicated and issued hundreds of Rulings on Taxpayers' appeals of their commercial and residential property tax assessments. In the year 2000, he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in Tallahassee, where he served for six years. In that capacity, he served as Vice-Chair of several major Committees, including, but not limited to the Banking & Finance Committee and the Claims Committee, among others.
