Makayla Jacmacjian Garonzik

Makayla Jacmacjian is an associate attorney at Sidweber & Weintraub, focusing exclusively on marital and family law matters. Born and raised in South Florida, Makayla earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Florida Atlantic University before graduating summa cum laude from Nova Southeastern University College of Law, where she ranked in the top 1% of her class.

During law school, Makayla excelled academically, earning multiple CALI Book Awards for achieving the highest grades in courses such as Family Law, Family Law Litigation, Business Entities, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Trusts, Legal Research and Writing, UCC Sales, and more.

Makayla was also an active leader in law school, serving as a representative in the Student Bar Association and as an Executive Board Member of the Moot Court Honor Society. She distinguished herself as a three-time national moot court competitor, earning numerous accolades. These include being named Southeast Regional Champion and National Quarterfinalist in the prestigious NYC Bar National Moot Court Competition, where she also received the Best Brief Award. Additionally, she was a semifinalist in both the American Bar Association Regional Competition and the University of San Diego National Moot Court Competition. In recognition of her excellence in trial advocacy and brief writing, Makayla was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a national honorary organization, upon graduation.

Her legal career began at Sidweber & Weintraub as a law clerk, where she gained valuable family law experience, leading to her current role as an associate attorney. Makayla’s academic achievements and competitive spirit reflect her commitment to providing exceptional advocacy and representation for her clients.
