Respondent wrongfully took millions of dollars of Decedent's (his mother's) real and personal property. Following trial on our Section 850 Petition, Trial Court returned property to family. Responden ... t appealed: JUDGMENT AFFIRMED. We also sought double damages under Section 859. Court awarded double damages, but amount awarded was zero, since we were waiting until decision on liability was given to prove value of property wrongfully taken by Respondents. We appealed: JUDGMENT REVERSED AND REMANDED. On re-trial Court awarded $5,250,000 in damages to our clients under Section 859.
