Richard Luis Moncada

Richard Moncada was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and remains deeply rooted in the community he now serves as a criminal defense attorney. A proud alumnus of Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida before returning home to complete his Juris Doctor at the University of Miami School of Law.
After law school, Mr. Moncada began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Miami‑Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he handled thousands of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony offenses. Through years in the courtroom, he gained extensive trial experience and developed a deep understanding of how prosecutors evaluate evidence, make charging decisions, and prepare cases for trial.
He later served as Assistant Chief of Misdemeanors and DUIs, supervising attorneys and overseeing high‑volume divisions responsible for prosecuting driving under the influence and other criminal offenses. In that leadership role, he reviewed complex cases, guided trial strategy, and ensured courtroom readiness across the division.
Today, Mr. Moncada brings that prosecutorial insight to the defense side of the courtroom. He prepares every case with a trial‑ready mindset and is not afraid to take a case before a jury when necessary to protect his client’s rights and future. His approach combines strategic analysis, thorough preparation, and confident courtroom advocacy.
As a Miami native who has spent his entire academic and professional career in South Florida, Richard Moncada understands the local courts, the procedures, and the community he represents.
