A twenty-three year marriage ended in physical violence. God was with me as I had Bette Quiat’s information in my addresses book for 25+ years. I had sent countless friends to her through the years they were ALL thrilled! Now it was my turn, I was a mess. The man I was divorcing had one foot out the ...door all 23 years! What was his was his and what was mine was his. I was angry and wanted revenge. I knew better, but in the heat of the moment, and you are so mad that’s all you want! I had interview a couple other very expensive hoity toity attorneys, that didn’t treat me very well. You see I had to shop at Goodwill on a strict budget. My papers were in a plastic grocery bag. So I guess I was understandably profiled. When these same attorneys say our bottom line, their whole tone changed. Similar to The Pretty Woman movie. You are correct if you think I told them they could kiss my grits. Bette was the antithesis, she treats any and everyone the same, (for less). I’ve never felt better about having someone help me! You can go to Miami Beach, Coral Gables with the marble floors and fresh orchids and pay a ton of money. Or be smart and go to the VERY BEST!!

Ms Quiat had a firm grasp of the laws and procedures of Family Law. She was able to execute an agreement between my wife and I however the minute another attorney got involved the problems started. After months she was finally able to get a hearing for temporary alimony and then the hearing date came... around and we went to court. That is when I saw her in action in the court room. She was like a deer in the headlights. That confident lawyer with years of experience crumbled in the court room. By a stroke of pure luck she got me a reasonable amount of temporary alimony. My wife never paid a penny. Ms Quiat filed a Motion for Contempt and Noticed the Hearing. One day before the hearing the Judge cancelled the hearing and had some smoky backroom telephone hearing with Ms Quiat and the opposing counsel. I was not told there was a telephonic hearing and was never able to testify. The order for the reasonable amount of temporary alimony was vacated by the Judge and I was plunged into poverty. My wife made $170000 a year and I was a disabled stay at home father that had not worked in 10 years. I got nothing! $0 not on dime and 4 months behind on my rent for our marital home. What I needed was a strong attorney that would fight for me what I got instead was a huge bill form Ms Quiat for all the "great" work she did. Within months I was evicted from my home and forced on the street like a piece of excrement. Homeless and no ability to keep my children. Thanks Bette! I hope I am able to return the favor one day. Run as fast as you can away from this one!
