Jose Carlos de Wit

Jose Carlos de Wit is the founder and managing attorney of De Wit Immigration Law, P.A., an immigration-only firm in Miami Shores, Florida. He represents employers, investors, entrepreneurs, and professionals across the United States in employment- and investment-based immigration, from H-1B, L-1, O-1, E-2, and TN petitions to PERM labor certifications, EB-1 green cards, EB-5, and the H-2A and H-2B seasonal worker programs. When the government delays or wrongly denies a case, he litigates, including mandamus lawsuits in federal court and appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the federal circuit courts.

Jose was born and raised in Guatemala and went through the U.S. immigration system himself before he ever represented a client in it. He earned his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Berkeley Journal of International Law, and he practiced at boutique and international firms, including Paul Hastings, before founding his own practice. He has practiced U.S. immigration and nationality law exclusively since 2017.

Chambers and Partners has recognized De Wit Immigration Law in its USA: Spotlight guide for Immigration in Florida in 2025 and 2026. Within the American Immigration Lawyers Association's South Florida chapter, Jose has chaired the Practice Management and Pro Bono Committees.
