As B.E.S.T.'s Lead Staff Attorney, I work with client/victims of Human Trafficking, including minors. B.E.S.T. stands for "Building Empowerment by Stopping Trafficking." My Pro-Bono services in this area include representing victims seeking relief from their traffickers, criminal defense for trafficking victims, and juvenile justice legal representations for minors that have been trafficked. Lastly, I advise dozens of Federal Agencies through the Blue Campaign and Florida state and local gov.
Mr. Guillen graduated magna cum laude among the top 5% of his Class from the Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in 2012 and summa cum laude from the University of Phoenix school of Business. While attending law school, Mr. Guillen was honored to serve as both a General Member and an Articles Editor of the Nova Law Review Honor Society, fine honing his ability to write and edit scholastic legal works. He was also honored as a member of the Nova Trial Association Honors Society, a position available only to law students that have demonstrated an exceptional ability to litigate before a Mock Trial competition.
Ramon has experience co-leading a team in a large class action settlement dispute and has appeared before the Multi-District Federal Court representing thousands of clients throughout the southeastern United States (E.D. La., S.D. Ala., and N.D. Fla.) involving personal injury arising in mass tort. Mr. Guillen has represented victims of human trafficking worldwide and is a board member of the organization B.E.S.T. (Building Empowerment by Stopping Trafficking, Inc.), providing pro-bono legal services to men, women, and children that have been negatively impacted by modern day slavery. As a victim advocate, Mr.Guillen has advised Federal and State agencies on how best to identify victims of domestic violence and human trafficking and how to provide adequate and necessary services to those victims once identified.
He has served as a guest speaker on several distinguished panels including FIU Law’s “Dannette’s Voice: Panel Discussion on Violence against Women” and has had his interviews broadcast globally through internet radio stations in both English and Spanish. Lastly, Mr. Guillen has worked closely with law enforcement to combat the epidemic of both sex and labor trafficking at the state and federal level.
Ramon has also provided invaluable advice to clients in corporate matters, including business transactions, contractual formation and interpretation, and litigation disputes. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
