Ricardo Ampudia represents clients in a wide variety of international disputes, including investor-State, commercial, and State-State arbitration, as well as litigation in matters pertaining to securities, international trade, international human rights, and international criminal law proceedings before INTERPOL.
Mr. Ampudia's experience covers numerous international investment and trade agreements, as well as a wide range of industries, including agriculture, construction, healthcare, internet and technology (including disputes against ICANN), oil and gas, electricity and heat generation, textiles, steel manufacturing, and transportation. His experience also includes representation of clients in the procurement of public contracts and related civil and criminal investigations.
He has advised clients and clerked for tribunals in high-profile proceedings in various languages and under various arbitration rules, including ICSID, UNCITRAL, DIAC, ICC, DR-CAFTA, HMAA, the AHLA, and the ICDR. Some of his most recent representations include:
Additionally, Mr. Ampudia has represented and advised clients in numerous proceedings before U.S. Courts. His class action experience includes In re Petrobras Sec. Litig., 14-cv-09662-JSR, a securities class action filed on behalf of Petrobras investors against the company.
Prior to founding International Dispute Resources LLC, Mr. Ampudia worked in the litigation department of a major international law firm in Washington, DC.
Mr. Ampudia is Co-Founder of the Georgetown International Arbitration Alumni group. He has also given graduate-level lectures on international commercial arbitration at Georgetown Law.
During law school, he served on the Executive Board of the American University International Law Review and was the editor of the Human Rights Academy and Humanitarian Law Book. Mr. Ampudia was also an intern at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the United States Department of Justice.
