Jennifer Schwartz is a shareholder in the Miami, Florida office of Jackson Lewis PC. For more than thirteen years, she has specialized in the defense of employment related disputes and has successfully litigated cases alleging wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour violations and unfair business practices. Ms. Schwartz also represents employers in matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, the Florida Commission on Human Relations, the Florida Department of Agency Hearings and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
In addition to her litigation practice, Ms. Schwartz assists employers in complying with federal and state employment laws, as well as in implementing preventative measures to avoid litigation, including the formulation of personnel policies and procedures. She conducts training programs on, among other things, prevention of discrimination and harassment in the workplace and wage and hour compliance. She is a frequent speaker and trainer on a variety of workplace law topics.
Ms. Schwartz is a member of the Florida Bar and Dade County Bar Association (“DCBA”). She served on the Board of Directors of the DCBA Young Lawyers Section from 2003 until 2009, and currently is an active member of the DCBA. For the past five years, Ms. Schwartz has been involved with the Dade Legal Aid Put Something Back Pro Bono Project, through which she devotes her time and services on a pro bono basis to indigent members of our community. In 2012, Ms. Schwartz was appointed by the DCBA President to Chair the Legal Aid Committee.
Ms. Schwartz joined Jackson Lewis in 2003. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida, with Honors, in 2001, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Florida, with High Honors, in 1998. In law school, Ms. Schwartz served as President of the University of Florida’s Chapter of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and as Assistant Research Editor on the Journal of Technology Law and Public Policy. Ms. Schwartz also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Alex Ferrer in the Eleventh Circuit.
Ms. Schwartz is admitted to practice in all Florida Courts; the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida; the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida; and the United States Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit.
