When I filed a homeowner’s insurance claim, the insurance company accepted responsibility. It also invoked its right to repair so that the insurer could hire its own contractors whom I didn’t know. That’s when the problems really began. After four months of delays the insurance company’s engineer fi...nally provided the report and plans necessary for a permit. After more delays, the insurance company agreed to just pay a lump sum to settle the claim since it had done such a poor job of handling it. Before paying they demanded that I sign a release. I was uncomfortable so I asked Marc Ben Ezra of Florida Professional Law Group to review the release.
